Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park

Today we went to visit Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park in Paterson, New Jersey. We had never been, and since it was listed on the Top 35 places to shoot in New Jersey, we figured today was a great day to visit the site. It was a clear day, and not overly cold.

The listing is not wrong: there are plenty of opportunities to take some great photographs. We spent a few hours here, and really enjoyed it!

To give myself a bit of an extra challenge, I only brought a single prime lens with me: my trusty 50mm f/1.4.

Here are some of my favorites from today.

A great wall painting, to let you know where you are!

This was our first visual when we walked into the park. Initial thought? That's it? One little waterfall?

Can't see much of the waterfalls, but the trees were so nicely colored, I couldn't help myself.

The waterfalls up-close-and-personal. There was a lot of mist in the air from the waterfalls.

Some of the falls, and the bridge going over the water.

Loved this old structure on the water. And, of course, I had to make it Black and White.

One of the bridges on one of the trails nearby. While the colors of the trees were nice, I really enjoyed this one in Black and White.

One of the trails goes by an industrial area. it's fenced off, and this gate caught my eye.

On our walk back to the car, I saw the curve in the road, and couldn't help myself, but wait until all the people in front of us were out of the shot!

My try doing HDR. Not too happy, but not completely unhappy with it. I used HDR Efex Pro 2 and three separate exposures.
